Chattanooga is the fourth largest city in Tennessee and boasts a population hovering around 180,000, which is up considerably since the last census in 2000.
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga calls Chattanooga home and has a student population approaching ten thousand.

Chattanooga’s population is growing due in part to the government that has done a lot to make Chattanooga a friendly destination for businesses, a revitalized river walk, and agreeable and beautiful climate and scenery.

The most beautiful natural point of interest in and around Chattanooga are the Tennessee River and highlands. The city is situated in the crux of the southwestern Ridge-and-valley Appalachians and the base of Walden’s Ridge; the body of water divides the peak from the western portion of downtown.

Spring and Fall are beautiful with weather in 50s, 60s, & 70s. Rain varies significatnly but is usually between three to five inches a month, and of course in the Winter months sometimes that means snow!

Everyone will have a favorite time of year to move, if moving is a necessity. Logically in the depths of winter with snow and ice around, this would not be the most opportune time. Possessions stand a better chance of being damaged during the winter. You do not expect the movers to be careful when it is below zero outside and their hands are frozen. But if you must be out of your apartment that time of year, there is little choice.

If you have children, it would be obvious that you would like for them to finish the school year if at all possible and spend the summer making new friends. This makes moving during the summer months a strong consideration. If you have family, moving during any holiday season like Christmas and Thanksgiving might take away time better spent with loved ones, especially if you will not be seeing them again any time soon, due to the move. There is also a good chance that the moving companies will charge a premium for moving you during the holidays. After all, they too want to be with their families.

Saving money is always a consideration. Check moving prices in Chattanooga Tennessee and other areas during the different times of the year, if your schedule is flexible. Why pay a lot more when you can wait out the moving companies and move at your leisure and save money in the process?

If money is no problem, your schedule becomes more flexible. You can move when you wish and not care about the extra fees for certain seasons. If moving close by, the time of year is less important.

There are a lot of movers all across this country. Some are good, some can be better. It is your job to do research on the internet and gather information from family and business acquaintances, as to which are the best. Word of mouth is a plus. Companies with well-known names might provide excellent service in one part of the country but not in another. It is called poor quality control. Some companies carrying the same name provide better service for a variety of reasons in specific areas.

You can compare rates, but a bargain company is no bargain if you arrive at the destination but have no idea where the moving truck is. Price is a consideration along with some inkling of knowledge as to the professionalism and reliability of whom you have hired. Most movers carry insurance, but do not count on their insurance, if you own anything of great value.

It will not hurt to check the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in the area of Chattanooga. Every city has a BBB. While the information will not inform you completely of the mover’s competence, a red flag will go off if that company has too many complaints. Every company has at least one complaint because everyone cannot be satisfied.

Get your quote online and sometimes for no charge a representative of one of the movers in Chattanooga will come out and give you a more accurate quote. Start rating the potential movers well ahead of the move. Doing so a week before the move is called gambling. Chances are that you will be okay due to the fine reputation of most movers in Chattanooga.

Moving is rough, whether moving a business or from one apartment to another. Preparation needs to be started well in advance. Boxes must be gathered and marked. When you arrive at the destination you will not remember in which room each box belongs, without it being carefully written down on the boxes and on a master sheet. Color coding cartons is a good idea. And don’t forget to contact the company a few days before the move to make sure both of you and the company are on the same page.

If you need wardrobe boxes or wrapping material the company should supply these at a reasonable cost. Make sure each box is packed to the top, so as not to rattle, especially items like dishes. Use wrapping or newspaper to make sure each box is completely filled with either objects or packing material. Heavy items go in before the lighter ones. Remember smaller cartons for heavier items. If you still read books other than what is read on the internet, pack the books flat or spine downwards.

Items you need right away should be carried by you personally. Personal affairs such as banking, should be taken care of before the move. The company charges you for every item, so if you own decent things that you do not need, be a sport and donate them to the needy. Consume your perishables and basically do not add to the weight and cost of the move by transporting food. These are items to be restocked at the new place of residence.

Valuable and sentimental items that cannot be replaced should be personally transported. The only picture remaining of a loved one should not go in a carton or box. Remember anything done the last minute will not be done right. Planning is key to moving comfortably. Keep an eye on the movers to make sure they have everything on the truck, they are not perfect.

Those moving in and around chattanooga are at an advantage. They live in a beautiful spot and are moving to yet another nice area of the region. In chattanooga Tennessee residents are surrounded by mountains and a beautiful lake. This assures those that live here of beautiful scenery. Though the snow will not be as abundant as in other places, it is not unheard of. It just won’t hang around as long as it does in colder areas.

There are numerous companies to help you move, if you are moving across town or to the suburbs of chattanooga. If you dread relocating in extreme cold conditions, then you are safe from this worry by moving in the area of chattanooga. Fine apartments are available and if you have any questions there are fine real estate agents that will be glad to tell you about the specifics of each area of chattanooga.

Chattanooga is part of a growing region of the nation. If getting a new job is a worry, there is a better chance of getting one in and around this area of the nation, than most other places. Those moving in chattanooga benefit from pretty good weather, friendly people and a job market that is better than most. And if you like the Blues and Country Music, the state can supply this with the sister cities of Nashville and Memphis.
